Myra App Recognised for NHS Partnership at SEHTA Awards 2026

Kuradocs Ltd, the company behind the Myra app, is proud to have been named Runner-Up in the Partnership with the NHS Award at the 2026 SEHTA Healthcare Business Awards.

Organised by the Science & Engineering Health Technologies Alliance (SEHTA), the awards celebrate innovation and collaboration across healthcare, recognising organisations that are making a meaningful difference to patient outcomes, service delivery and healthcare innovation.
Sponsored by City St George’s, University of London, the Partnership with the NHS Award recognises collaborations that demonstrate significant impact on patient care, operational efficiency and healthcare delivery.

The award recognises the ongoing partnership between Kuradocs and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), particularly the work undertaken alongside the Complex Hospital Discharge Team to develop and evaluate the Myra app.

“Being recognised by SEHTA for our partnership with the NHS is a significant milestone in Myra’s journey.

“What began as research into the challenges facing older adults and carers quickly revealed a much bigger issue: too many people are leaving hospital without the information, support and confidence they need, while NHS teams are under immense pressure to coordinate increasingly complex discharges.

Myra was designed to address both challenges. By providing trusted information and practical support in people’s pockets, we’re helping patients, carers and healthcare professionals navigate the journey from hospital to home more effectively.

This recognition belongs to every organisation, clinician, patient, carer and partner who has contributed to Myra’s development. Together, we’re demonstrating how collaboration and digital innovation can improve outcomes for patients while supporting wider NHS priorities around prevention, integration and care closer to home.”

Tackling One of Healthcare's Biggest Challenges

Hospital discharge is one of the most complex and challenging parts of the patient journey.
Across the NHS, thousands of patients remain in hospital longer than medically necessary every day. While discharge delays can be caused by multiple factors, one common issue is that patients and families often do not fully understand the discharge process, what support is available, or what needs to be arranged before they can safely return home.
The consequences are significant.

Extended hospital stays can increase the risk of deconditioning, falls, hospital-acquired infections, loss of confidence and reduced independence for older adults. At the same time, delayed discharge places enormous pressure on hospital capacity, contributes to ambulance handover delays and costs the NHS billions of pounds every year.

For healthcare professionals, the challenge is equally significant. Staff often spend valuable time repeating information, answering common questions and helping families navigate services at a time when hospital resources are already stretched.

Myra was developed to help address these challenges.

Designed as a practical pocket guide for older adults, unpaid carers and families, Myra brings together trusted guidance, practical tools and access to local and national support services in one place. The aim is simple: help people feel more informed, prepared and confident before, during and after hospital discharge.

By improving access to information and support, Myra helps patients and families make informed decisions, supports safer transitions home and promotes greater continuity in the information being shared between healthcare teams and the people they support.

Partnership and Collaboration at the Heart of Myra

This award reflects the importance of collaboration in developing healthcare innovation that solves real-world challenges.

The partnership with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has played a crucial role in shaping Myra’s development and implementation. Working alongside the Complex Hospital Discharge Team, as well as colleagues from patient experience, integrated discharge services, social care and wider clinical teams, the Myra team has been able to evaluate and refine the app within real healthcare environments.
This approach has ensured that Myra responds directly to the needs of patients, carers, families and healthcare professionals.

Recognition Among Healthcare Innovators

The 2026 SEHTA Healthcare Business Awards took place at Scale Space, Imperial College London, and attracted a record number of entries from healthcare innovators across the UK.

Neil Roberts, Managing Director of SEHTA, commented:
“Another record breaking year for entries for this year’s SEHTA Healthcare Business Awards and to see the depth of achievement by them all was inspiring.”
The awards showcase some of the UK’s most exciting healthcare innovations and highlight the value of collaboration between clinicians, businesses, researchers and healthcare organisations.

As well as recognising innovation, SEHTA continues to play an important role in supporting emerging healthcare businesses through networking, mentoring, commercialisation support and facilitating pathways into the NHS.

Kuradocs has benefited from being part of this wider innovation ecosystem throughout Myra’s development journey.

Looking Ahead

This recognition represents an important milestone for Kuradocs, Myra and the many partners who have contributed to the project’s success.

As healthcare continues to evolve, there is increasing focus on four key themes that are shaping health and social care policy: prevention, supporting people to remain at home for longer, greater integration between services, and digital transformation.

Myra directly supports these priorities by helping older adults, unpaid carers, families and healthcare professionals access trusted information and support when it is needed most.

As more care moves into the community and home environment, accessible digital tools will play an increasingly important role in helping people navigate complex care journeys, make informed decisions and maintain independence.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported Myra’s development so far, including healthcare professionals, carers, patients, families, partner organisations and the wider innovation community.
Together, we remain committed to improving hospital discharge, supporting recovery at home and helping people live well for longer.
