Myra has been featured in a recent article on WhichFranchise.com, highlighting how Walfinch Southampton is using the app to support a pilot scheme aimed at reducing hospital discharge delays — one of the key issues facing the NHS.
Angela Harding, Co-Director and Registered Care Manager at Walfinch Southampton, explains:
“We are one of the care companies featured on the Myra app, which allows people to find home care, equipment, and other information that can help speed up their discharge.”
Figures from the Nuffield Trust and Health Foundation show that over 13,800 patients each day were medically fit to leave hospital in January 2025, but many faced discharge delays due to care coordination issues. The Myra app helps tackle this challenge by putting the right information and services at people’s fingertips, when they need them most.
Through the pilot, Walfinch Southampton is receiving care referrals via the app and promoting their services directly to hospitals. They are also using local hospital training facilities to support their care teams.
Amrit Dhaliwal, CEO of Walfinch, adds:
“The app is a great example of how technology can improve health and care services — benefitting patients, the NHS, and care providers alike.”
We’re proud to support Walfinch Southampton and other care providers through Myra — helping to improve discharge experiences and support older adults, families, and healthcare professionals every step of the way.
